Top 5 Places to Shop For Your Next Swimsuit
This online retailer is fabulous for all kinds of clothes, including swimwear. They have a reputation for being mostly mod (of course), but they have a great selection of more current clothes.
Their swimwear collection is great for all bodies but especially amazing for women with more, ahem, curves. They are also largely modest, so you won’t be losing your bikini top when you jump off the high dive. Shipping is free with a $75 order, and returns and exchanges are free. Oh, and customer service is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Right up there with Zappos.
Shipping: Free with orders over $75
Returns and Exchanges: Free
Other: Awesome customer service!
It stands to reason that an intimates retailer would do swimwear well, and Soma Intimates is no exception. This online and offline store has amazing bras and panties (VPL be gone!), and their swimwear is just as amazing.
The focus is on tankinis, and most of the tops have underwire support, which is essential for most boob sizes. No one likes saggy boobs, ESPECIALLY in a swimsuit. The bottoms offer great coverage, so you’ll be un-wedging your suit from your behind less often. There’s a decent selection at the retail locations, but it’s a bit better online.
They have a good rewards program and offer free shipping to their Gold and Platinum members, but regular shipping is still reasonable. And returns are accepted in stores.
Shipping: Free with Gold and Platinum members
Returns and Exchanges: Accepted in stores
Other: Swimwear with great cut and fit. Good selection at the online store.
3. Everything But Water
This higher-end retailer offers a wide selection of swimwear from more exclusive brands. If you shop here, be ready to drop at least $200, but the swimsuit will last several seasons when cared for properly.
They have retail locations and an online store, and their retail experience is excellent. If you’re in the market for a designer suit, this is the way to go. Shipping is (unfortunately) not free, but returns are.
Returns and Exchanges: Free
Other: Excellent retail experience!
4. Swimsuits for All
Stylish plus-sized options for clothing and swimwear are still woefully limited, but there are a few rays of hope. Swimsuits for All is one of those.
They have a HUGE selection of all kinds of swimsuits up to size 34. And they are NOT frumpy. Shipping isn’t free, but returns are when you take store credit. This is a hit I’m willing to take for such a great selection.
Plus-size model Mandy Holverson was featured on Good Morning America wearing a two-piece suit from Swimsuits for All.
Returns: Free when you take store credit
Other: Up to size 34!
That’s right. Target. Last year they would not have gotten my stamp of approval, but this year they’ve upped their game with stylish suits for all sizes.
In the past, most of their suits were unsuitable (pun intended) for any but the slimmest of bodies. Not so this year. So if you’re looking for a budget option, Target is great. There is still a bit of a compromise on quality, but the price is right if you don’t mind buying a new suit each year.
I do recommend having more than one suit, so you can alternate and make them both last you all season.
Shipping: Free on orders of $35 or more
Returns and Exchanges: Free returns
Other: Great budget option
There you have it!
