Tomorrow I’ll be 38 years old (cray, right?).  And while I’ve learned a heck of a lot more than these 37 things, I don’t have time to write a book at the moment.  So here are the highlights of what life taught me this year, in no particular order.

  1. Trust your gut
  2. It’s not always going to be perfect, and that’s OK
  3. Friends come and friends go, and it’s not your fault
  4. It’s OK to change your mind
  5. You’ve gotta come to terms with the fact that you can’t make everyone happy all the time.
  6. Nothing makes me feel more confident than a blazer
  7. Pink lipstick makes everything better
  8. The only thing that holds me back is me
  9. Charming Charlie’s is my happy place
  10. Everyone handles grief and change differently
  11. That definition of insanity is true
  12. I prefer a bangle over a cuff bracelet
  13. Kendra Scott is a business genius
  14. I have a lot to learn about being a business owner
  15. I’m willing to learn
  16. The only way I can fail is to quit
  17. I will never quit
  18. Rock bottom sucks
  19. The thing about hitting rock bottom is that the only way to go is up
  20. I want to be known for helping women like you look and feel amazing
  21. I want to be famous
  22. Doing the work is a lot easier when you know in your heart that it will all pay off in the end
  23. Couples counseling sucks, but it’s worth it
  24. Friendships grow and change, and that’s OK
  25. Caring what other people think about you and your dreams is a sure way to misery
  26. Sometimes you just have to let go
  27. Hiring a coach won’t solve all of your problems or make you wildly successful.
  28. It’s a fabulous idea to do a ton of research before you hire someone you met in a Facebook group (or anywhere else, really), especially when thousands of dollars are involved.
  29. Expensive does not always (or often) = better
  30. Haters gonna hate (don’t listen to them)
  31. Hurting people hurt, and what they say doesn’t have anything to do with you.
  32. You can’t make someone do something they don’t want to
  33. It doesn’t matter who you are now, it matters who you are becoming
  34. Watching your kid grow up is wonderful and bittersweet
  35. Magic happens when you step outside your comfort zone
  36. Vision boards are actually a good idea (and not just some woo crap)
  37. A beautiful home and hanging out with amazing friends is more important to me than fancy cars and bags (except for that Pink Cadillac I’ll be driving next year)

And the top 3 things that will happen this year:

  1. Debut as an Independent Sales Director at Mary Kay Seminar in July 2018
  2. Become debt free, living a cash lifestyle
  3. Change the lives of 1000 women through the Styled by You membership community

What was your biggest life lesson this past year? What’s your biggest dream for the year to come?
